Navy reserve questions?

I'm going into the Navy as a Master of Arms July 6th 2011. I keep hearing how overmanned it is, but I also hear how good it is too. I would like to get a degree in Intelligence (something that wasn't open at the time). I want to change careers however can I go reserve till my degree is finished then go as active officer. Or is my better bet changing careers and finishing school with an intelligence degree. I'm trying to figure out my best options for my future career life in the ruff economy world.
