New Pure Ice Crackle nail polish issues.?

Today I bought myself some new Crackle nail polish, but when I use it I just get that clumpy look and not a cracked one. I looked at blogs about it and Youtube videos, but everyone I read or watched got the results promised. Is there a special way of doing it that I'm not getting?
