Complicated. You made a mess and now you have to clean it up. What you describe could be classified as ciber-stalking but I don't think you accomplished any harm that would be actionable. Only one personal contact and a bunch of ciber-lies. It doesn't sound like there is any harm except some embarrassment or humiliation. I would apologize again, replace the book, and put the whole thing behind you. Move on, having learned your lesson. You should also cut the officious intermeddler out of your circle of acquaintances.
