How to break-in a new motorcycle?

When in doubt read the owners manual. Most owners manuals will specify a certain speed and rpm not to operate above. So, better to baby it. There is a popular web site that tells you to ride it like you stole it. Keep in mind that when you use this technique your engine will not be covered by any warrenty and the place that you received this advice from won't gurantee your engine. Now, it is true that certain bikes like the Yamaha 650 v-star that come with ceramic cylinders don't require a break in period. But, if this is the case it would specify that in the owners manual. Most engines made today still require you to baby it.
