Does being drunk make your true feelings come out?

My fiancee has always been a little ruff around the edges, which i like. But when he drinks, he is so sweet to me and has on occasion even cried,which is sooo not him! i dont try to get him drunk so he'll be nice to me or anything, its just something i noticed. so does he really mean the things he says or is it the booz talking?
